Privacy

Passalong is run by Kairos Studios LLC. This page says plainly what we keep and why.
What we keep
- Your email address, so you can sign in with a link. It is never shown on a listing. It is shared only when you ask for an item, and then only with that item's poster (see below).
- Your first name or nickname and your town, which appear on your listings.
- Your listings and their photos. Photos are shrunk and stripped of location data on your phone before they upload.
- A record of the items you've asked for and the listings you've reported, so nobody asks twice and reports stay fair.
- When you agreed to the terms and to the car seat note, so there is a record that you did.
- Scrambled versions of IP addresses and email addresses for a day or two, only to limit how often sign-in emails and codes can be sent. They can't be turned back into the original.
- If a moderator closes an account, a scrambled version of its email address, so the same address can't simply sign up again.
Who sees your email
Only the poster of an item you ask for, and only when you press the button to share it. They get your note and your address so they can reply. Their address stays private until they reply to you.
Asking shares your email address with that one poster and no one else. Once it is shared, it can't be unshared, but you can stop sharing it with anyone new.
Emails we send
Sign-in links, notes about your listings, and messages from neighbors who ask. Once an email is sent, a copy stays in the recipient's inbox; deleting your account can't reach into anyone's mailbox.
Support emails
When you email help@passalong.us, an AI assistant provided by Anthropic reads your message and may write and send the reply. Anthropic processes it for us under its commercial terms. We don't keep the text of support emails; we keep only a short record that a question came in, what kind it was and how it was handled. Anything the assistant can't answer goes to a person, and you can reach one any time by replying "person".
Who helps us run Passalong
- Cloudflare hosts the app, stores listings and photos, and sends and receives our email.
- Anthropic provides the AI assistant for support emails.
Both handle it for us under their business terms.
What we don't do
No ads. No tracking scripts or analytics companies. We never sell your information. The only cookie is the one that keeps you signed in.
Backups and deleting your account
Settings has a Delete my account button. It removes your account, your listings and their photos right away. Our database host keeps backups for up to 30 days, after which deleted information is gone from them too.
